It's been a while since I've updated this again, so here we go.
What have we been up to lately? Well, Spencer's enjoying his classes. He bowled 4 strikes in a row today in bowling! He also said today that he's enjoying his bacterial pathogenesis class, even though the lab portion of it sometimes reminds him of why he doesn't want to go into research. I don't hear much about his French class, but I think he likes it alright, considering it's a history class.
I'm still student teaching. Haven't given up yet. Some days it's really hard, and some days it's okay. I am learning more and more that teachers do very little teaching compared to all the other stuff. And I'm learning more about myself, so that's a good thing. I'm trying to enjoy the experience, but to be honest I've never been so relieved for weekends to come. I started my solo teaching unit today, and I think that will help me feel like I have more ownership in the class. Enough talking about this.
Two weekends ago Spencer took me on a date to the Nickel City, the nickel arcade in Orem. It was really fun, actually. We got some FunDips with our tickets. Best prize I've ever gotten with tickets. Right when we walked in Spencer asked if any of my students were there. I didn't notice any, but the next week at school one of my 7th graders was like, "Hey! I saw you at Nickel City on Saturday!" Weird.
Last weekend Patrick (Spencer's brother) came down to visit from BYU-I. It was fun to have him, and it was nice to have a little extra motivation to make some good things to eat. I made some spinach artichoke dip, and we also had smoothies and made another batch of beef jerky. I made Caroline's taco soup and brought some to a girl I visit teach, whose husband had brain surgery recently. They are doing really well, all things considered. I feel blessed to know them and to see their example of courage and faith in the face of trials. They are amazing people.
Um, last week Spencer got a few more rejection letters from medical schools. Michigan State and University of Michigan, so that's a bit of a bummer. He emailed the schools we haven't heard from to let them to know he's still interested and stuff. Central Michigan University emailed back a day later and said if anyone drops their interview, they'll give the slot to Spencer. They emailed again yesterday with an interview offer for next Friday! So, that's great news, and I'm excited for him. We paid an arm and a leg for his plane ticket, but it'll all be worth it if he gets accepted. His status of being on the wait list at Wayne State hasn't changed yet, but most of the movement on wait lists comes in May when people with multiple offers have to declare which school they will be attending. So, we're still hopeful, but we've also thought about what we will do if he has to reapply next cycle. At least he'll get to visit with his family next weekend!
That's all for now. :)

Oh, Hey There, Blog.
I'm in a blogging slump. I have 4 or 5 posts titled and awaiting content, but I have not been feeling the motivation to do it. Things got so busy (and fun!) over break that there was no time to keep up with it. Okay, that's probably a lie. I just haven't felt like blogging, and now I feel guilty.
I'm sure you've all been anxiously awaiting my next post so you could know what we've been up to. That's probably a lie, too, but I will give you a little current update before updating the rest of my empty posts.
Since we got back from our Thornock family vacation in San Antonio, we've jumped right back into school. Spencer's taking a whopping 7.5 credits this semester and I'm in 7th grade. Spencer loves his bowling class, and is determined to break 200 one of these days. He's also taking a French history class to earn a French certification and his last major class, bacterial pathogenesis. I've started student teaching, and I'm exhausted.
Sometimes I just sit and watch all the students and recall that 7th grade is a terrible time of life. Okay, it's not terrible, but it sure was awkward. 7th grade science is just a semester long course at my school (don't even get me started on how terrible of an idea that is). I started last week, but today was the first day of the second semester, so I'm just meeting "my" students now. I'm not really nervous about it at all, but it is stressful. Being on my feet all day is a tough change for me, and sometimes it is tiring to teach the same lesson 6 times a day. I usually go to the gym after I'm done until Spencer get's off work, but then I come home, have dinner, and fall asleep on the couch by like 8:30. When I wake up I decide if it's an acceptable time to go to bed for real or not. That has been contributing to the blogging slump.
So that's pretty much all that we've been up to. Last week we went to help Josh and Katy load up their moving truck, and we're sad that they are gone to snowy Minnesota. Spencer and Carrina were becoming good little buddies. She just adores him.
Oh, and I made Colin, Josh and Katy's baby boy due this spring, an adorable baby blanket. It's my favorite one that I've made so far. It's so snuggly warm. :)
