And We're Off!

Spencer and I are officially off on our long-awaited France trip!!! We have been talking about/ saving for/ planning this trip for about a year and a half now, and I can't believe it's here! Seriously, we're both so excited. We're sitting in the Salt Lake airport waiting for our flight to start boarding. We're going SLC --> Detroit --> Amsterdam --> Marseille and we'll be there in about 17 hours.

Packed up and ready for our shuttle to the airport!
So, before all that happens, I wanted to post about the last week or so.

We found out our little baby is a girl, so the name discussions have picked up again. There were a couple girl names I really loved before, but now that we know it's a girl for sure I don't like them as much. Neither of us are very decisive people, and this is a big decision. I wouldn't recommend holding your breath. It may be a while before we announce a decision. :)

Friday was Spencer's last day working in the office. That was a really good job for him. So, thanks Katy for hooking him up back in 2010! I'm officially done working for the temp agency, too. We spent the last week packing up our apartment and watching House. I love that show, but I find myself slightly paranoid about getting some random, life-threatening illness. Not really, but it would be really scary if something like that happened!

Miranda came over a couple of times and was a huge help in getting things packed. I'm such a space-case when I start projects like that. I need something confined with a starting and ending point or I walk into the other room to get the tape and end up seeing something else that needs to be done and then nothing actually gets finished. haha. We got basically everything done. Another box or two for the kitchen and one for the bathroom probably. So, when we get back from this adventure, it should be pretty easy to get everything squared away for the move.

We got to talk to our missionaries for Mother's Day!! We talked with Benjamin on Saturday night. (He's 13 hours ahead of us, so it was Sunday morning for him.) Do you see all those people down at the bottom? It's a crazy, fun time when he gets to call home. And I wonder why we don't get together and hangout with everyone who can more often. He's doing great. He's optimistic and happy as ever. We're proud of him. He's almost half-way done.

On Sunday we talked with Mikayla, too! We miss her a lot. I didn't take a screenshot of our chat, but she couldn't use google hangout on the computer she was using, so it was a little complicated getting everyone in on the chat. She sounds great, and I'm so excited to see her in another year!

Sunday was Mother's Day. Spencer says this year doesn't count for me and it's his last year of not having to worry about it. haha. Mother's Day is always kinda hard for me and this year I made a point to stay away from all the facebook posts. Part of me feels like I have to write an obligatory Mother's Day post, but I don't want to. If you want one, go back and read the one I probably posted last year or something. ;) We all know that Mom was wonderful and I spent the day thinking about her, so that's good enough for me this year. They did hand out really yummy chocolate truffle bars to all the women at church, so that was great.

I'm going to try to write a short post about our trip each day instead of cramming it all into a huge one at the end, so check back if you wanna know what we're up to! We're renting an apartment in Marseille and staying most days, but we bought trian passes that allow us 5 days of unlimited travel within France, so we'll take a few longer day-trips and explore Marseille in between those! We're just going to play it by ear, eat yummy food, and have fun together!

  2. Abbey, I was pregnant in France and they treated me like a queen! I was in Paris and they never made me wait in a line for taxis or museums ("You don't wait") and they hooked me up with the freight elevator to go to the top of the Arc d'Triumph (I'm not sure of spelling). I hope you find the Royal treatment in Marseille!

  3. Can't wait to hear all about your trip! That's the same thing Tyler said about mother's day before we had kids. :)
